Gakwaya Family

Huye Rally –Memorial Claude Gakwaya- is organized every year in memory of the biggest Rwandan driver ever. Fans came long from Kigali, and Burundi, to witness the spectacular event, that was flagged off at Ibis Hotel by the Gakwaya family.
Crowd at 'Save'

Fans- Saying Huye residents love car racing would be an understatement. The mammoth crowds echoed passion, adoration and a very unique admirable trait of support and morale boosting (for the drivers).
Despite the cheers, John Murengezi could not find his footing as he dropped out at the early stage siting mechanical problems. Speaking exclusively to Sports Mirror said, he could not understand what went wrong with his Subaru. “I expect it to be a big problem in the engine, for this to happen. My mechanics will check and sort everything out.” He decided to ignore his frustrations at ‘save’ cheering on his competitors.
