Emmerdale star Kelvin Fletcher will create some real-life drama this year – on
Britain’s racetracks. The actor, who has played Andy
Sugden in the ITV soap for 17 years, will turn racing driver to compete in the
Porsche GT3 Cup series for 420-horsepower sport scars. And to get in the mood
for his own stints behind the wheel, he checked out last weekend’s British
Touring Car Championship action at Brands Hatch. Petrol head Kelvin, who will
race for top Porsche team Redline Racing, took on all comers in the Mighty
Miniseries last year and won a celebrity race at Silverstone. He describes
himself as having “the ambitions of a 10-year-old kid obsessed with
motorsport”. He said: “I want to give a good account of myself in the GT3 Cup
but it’s going to be a steep learning curve. Hopefully I’ll be a quick
learner.”
