Bailed Blade Runner Oscar Pistorius
has held talks with his coach about resuming training.
The Paralympics
legend, who faces a charge of murdering girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, was
pictured back on the track in his home town of Pretoria.
The family of the
26-year-old double amputee issued a statement insisting he was only jogging and
is “still in an extremely traumatized state.”
“He told us he would like to get back in
training and we can now look at formulating his training schedule.
“Oscar is still coming
to terms with the sad loss of Reeva.
“That is why it will
be better for him to be back at training.
“It will be great to
get him some routine. But this is not disrespectful to Reeva, or her family.
“This has been part of
his life for so many years. If it makes things easier for him to get some sense
back into his life, let him run and let him jog.
“He’s a human being
and that’s maybe an outlet for him.”
Pistorius is next due
in court on June 4, with a trial expected to take place in South Africa before
the end of this year.
His relaxed bail
conditions now allow him to travel abroad in order to continue his athletics
career.
But Pistorius has not
trained for two months since the shocking events on Valentine’s Day when he
allegedly shot model Reeva in his home. He claims he mistook her for an
intruder.
His last competitive
race was his victory in the 400 metres final at the London Paralympics in
September last year.
