One million suffered as demonstrators take to streets Brazil

Horrible situation in Brazil as the demonstration took hostage
Hard-up Brazilians have taken to the streets in protest at the £18.7billion cost of hosting next year’s World Cup.
Violence erupted as more than a million joined demos in 100 cities across the country – claiming the cash could have been better spent on schools and hospitals.
In Rio de Janeiro riot police fired tear gas and rubber bullets at groups of masked youths trying to storm the city hall as looters sought to cash in on the unrest.
In Ribeirao Preto, a teenage boy died when he was hit by a car that smashed through a barricade.
At least 29 other people have been injured.
And what began as a campaign against the rising cost of public transport has escalated into a general sense of injustice at what many see as corruption and an extreme waste of resources over the decision to stage the prestige football tournament.
Student Camila Sena, 18, said: “People are fed up – they are demanding change.”
The government’s lavish spending has prompted a campaign on Facebook called “World Cup for whom?”
One angry mum posted a message saying: “If my child gets sick, I can’t take him to a stadium.”
