Cristiano Ronaldo will retire at Real Madrid,
according to club president Florentino Perez.
Manchester United has been trying to
lure the Portuguese superstar back to Old Trafford this summer. But Ronaldo
last week insisted he had no intention of quitting the Bernabeu anytime soon.
Perez said: “Ronaldo wants to retire at Real Madrid, and we want him to retire
here, just like Zidane and so many other great players did.“You can be
absolutely certain that Cristiano will retire at Real Madrid.”Perez also
confirmed he has received no bid from Arsenal for striker Gonzalo Higuain. That
is despite claims from the Argie ace's father Jorge that the Gunners were close
to landing his son in a £23million deal.
Perez
said: “We don’t want Higuain to leave. What’s more no-one from Arsenal has come
to us and made us any offers at all for him.“There are no offers on the table.”
Perez would not rule out a summer move
for Tottenham’s Gareth Bale, but did say they had made no swoop yet. He added:
“He is a great player who belongs to a club we enjoy good relations with, but
we have not made any offer.”
